At 6ft. 7in., Anthony William Greig was a towering figure on the cricket field. He was one of the best and most influential cricketers of his generation.
His batting was based on the front foot; the off-drive and the lofted straight drive were among his specialties. He played most of his best cricket on ‘away’ tours, with India being no exception. A man who loved a challenge, his Test average is much better than his career average. Which indicates that he was a man who loved to play to the crowd.
