GCA president quizzed by police

Goa Cricket Association president Dayanand Narvekar was on Tuesday questioned for the second day about the sale of fake tickets for the India-Australia one-dayer in Margao, Goa, on April 6.

The hearing on an application for anticipatory bail for Narvekar is fixed for Wednesday by a Margao court, deputy Inspector General of Police Karnal Singh told reporters.

Narvekar reported for interrogation earlier on Monday armed with an order from South Goa sessions judge N A Britto, who ruled that he should not be arrested till the disposal of his anticipatory bail application.

In its order, the court directed Narvekar to cooperate with the police investigations.

Board of Control for Cricket in India executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar again appeared before the police investigating team on Tuesday, Karnal Singh said, adding that several managing committee members of the GCA, including its vice-president Pankaj Joshi were interrogated on Tuesday.

He said the police are now looking forward to meeting A P Kajaria, the BCCI observer for the ODI, to seek some "clarification" on a statement made by him.

Meanwhile, the police moved the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Margao, for further remand of the six persons so far arrested following its investigation into the case. Their five-day police remand expires on Tuesday, Karnal Singh added.
