Steve Waugh happy with team's performance
Australia captain Steve Waugh on Saturday said he was very happy with his team's tremendous
fightback in the deciding one-day international, in Goa on Friday, which helped clinch the one-day series against India.
The World one-day champions, who won the five-match
series by a 3-2 verdict, arrived at Santacruz
airport in Bombay on Saturday afternoon by an Indian Airlines flight.
A smiling Waugh told reporters: "I am happy about the way
the boys performed in the one-day internationals even after
losing the Test series."
However, he refused to elaborate on reasons for his team's 1-2
defeat in the Tests.
"I have already spoken to the press yesterday
at Goa and there is nothing more to comment now."
The skipper said the tour was "tough but an exciting
one".
Some of the Indian team members, including captain Sourav
Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, V V S Laxman, Zaheer Khan and Ajit
Agarkar along with coach John Wright also came with the
Australian team but slipped away from waiting reporters.
Immediately after landing in Bombay, Ganguly boarded the
flight for Calcutta.
The Australian team will leave for home in the wee hours
of Sunday. They take on traditional rivals England in the
Ashes series next month.
