Court summons 8 Pak cricketers

A court has summoned eight Pakistani cricketers in connection with a citizen's petition calling for the players to be banned from the game and prosecuted over match-fixing, court officials said Wednesday.

The Sindh High Court has ordered Wasim Akram, Salim Malik, Waqar Younis, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed, Ataur Rehman and Akram Raza to appear before it on September 25.

Malik and Rehman were banned for life after the findings of an inquiry into match-fixing by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum were released in May. The other six were fined and censured.

The petitioner, Qadir Khan Mandokhel, has said all the players should be banned from the game and prosecuted because the inquiry "proved their involvement in match-fixing".
