Karunan (Mon Jun 14 1999 4:54 IST)
Cap. Ganesh: How long do you expect the air strikes to continue? How successful have been the Operation Vijay in the last three weeks?

Ramdoss (Mon Jun 14 1999 4:57 IST)

raybannew (Mon Jun 14 1999 4:58 IST)
Capt. Ganesh: How come the high flying jets, are able to pinpoint the intruders ? And how do you identify them from civilians (if any)?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:37 IST)
Capt. Ganesh, can't massive number of troops be para dropped on the occupied locations?

vidya (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:32 IST)
Do we have a long term strategy for kashmir. Why can't we take skardu and keep it. That is the tip of the needle so to say of the territory, involved. There is no way pakistan can attack India on that area if we keep skardu.

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:32 IST)
Capt. Ganesh, why not use Heavy Bombers to "carpet bomb" areas covering each occupied position?

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:25 IST)
Thanks for coming in Captian ...

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:25 IST)
Hello Capt. Ganesh, does India have Heavy Bombers?

shir (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:26 IST)
hi capt!

Ricardo Rodriguez (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:28 IST)
Group Captain: Is it necessary for the Indian Air Force to mount an offensive with such firepower against what your government has said is a group of 600 people? What makes them so special that air power was called for?

shir (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:28 IST)

Citizen (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:29 IST)
Oh Captain, r we going to have a war??????

Steven Stephanpoulos (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:29 IST)
How difficult is it to wage an aerial war in the Himalyan heights for the pilots? I understand you are a pilot yourself. What are the risks they run? What is the area they get to manoueuvre?

Karthik (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:7 IST)
DO WE INDIANS HAVE AIR SUPERIORITY IN CASE OF A BREAKOUT OF WAR?

Jaydeep (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:12 IST)

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:13 IST)
Hello Everyone, I do not think we have air superiority of any kind

Shahezadi (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:26 IST)
Capt Ganesh.. is it true that the Indians are using chemical weapons in Kargil? You mean, Pak will make such a serious allegation without any basis?

Simon Tunney (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:27 IST)
Mr Group Captain: What aircraft have been used in the Kargil theatre so far? I understand the Sukhois have been used...

Citizen (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:27 IST)

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:27 IST)

Steven Stephanpoulos (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:33 IST)

Ragini (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:33 IST)
Group Captain D Ganesh: Are there any women fighter pilots in Kargil?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:33 IST)

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:35 IST)
That is the whole point Capt. These chappies have seem to have themselves well entrenched. Wht were we doing. and also on another front, is a railway union striking minister good enoughj to be Def. Min today?

Mirage (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:27 IST)
Group Captain Ganesh: Why did the IAF not get an independent post mortem conducted on Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja? That would have carried greater credibility than an IAF press release.

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:27 IST)
Capt. Ganesh The PM's visit was marred by shelling from the other side of LOC....Why are we not giving a fitting reply to it. And if yes what is stopping us?

pushkar (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:28 IST)
cpt ganesh, why are'nt the HIND helicopter gunships being used. They would be ideal here sir.

Pakistani (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:38 IST)
GROUP CAPTAIN D GANESH: But what is the guarantee, your planes can always come in our territory. And hence, they get shot down. So, why crib?

DDM (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:38 IST)
what our satellites were doing so far ? Don't we take satellite photos of the region ?

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:38 IST)
Capt. Can you get someone to type for you please??

Indian (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:38 IST)
GR .. yo!!

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:38 IST)
Capt., Is it not true that the Forces are rather tired of constantly changing Civilian Govts. and dont you suppose that it is a good time for there to be Martial rule in India. Not that I'm very keen on being told by a JCO's son from OTA to tell me what to do and what not to do.

Natha (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:28 IST)
Captain Ganesh: Am sorry that i am an ordinary Indian and I don't know much about Army. Can u tell me what does Group signifies in your designation?

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:40 IST)
Pakistani Please Get out ..not a place for U

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:40 IST)
Great now we've got a paki in cyber space and a moron who calls himself usafkicksbutt

Sumit B (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:40 IST)
Captain how effective is the communication of the Air force with the ground troops. Is there any possibility of risk to them by our own Indian Air Force in the current scenario when our troops are constantly advancing towards forward locations??

USAFKicksButt (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:41 IST)
As long as the helos out there are under IAF command and control, everytime you have to whack two natives and a dog, it becomes a combined services operational nightmare. I wodner why they have that really whacky set up in India, with the helos being run by the air boss and not hte army....talk about inter service rivalry and territorial in-fighting between the AF and Army.....sheeez....

pushkar (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:28 IST)
cpt ganesh, why are'nt the HIND helicopter gunships being used. They would be ideal here sir.

raybannew (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:14 IST)
Hi Jaydeep how r u ?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:14 IST)
MIG 21s were used in 1971 war!! They are being still used when Pakistan has F-14s and F-16s

Raghu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:14 IST)
Dear Mr Ganesh: Do u think Kargil was pre-planned?

raybannew (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:15 IST)
Jaydeep kaisa hai?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:16 IST)
In addition, India does not have any mobile SAM units that it can quickly deploy. AA units are ineffective against advanced fighters like F-16s.

Nikhil Lakshman (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:17 IST)
Welcome to the Rediff Chat, Group Captain Ganesh. Thank you for your presence in this form to enlighten the worldwide community about the battel in Kargil.

Mirage (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:18 IST)
Group Captain Ganesh: Why did the IAF not get an independent post mortem conducted on Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja? That would have carried greater credibility than an IAF press release.

Hello! I am new to this chat. Please help me. I am proud of being Indian. I am proud of you people fighting for our nation. It can't be equalised by anything

Ryan Kirkland (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:20 IST)
Group Captain Ganesh: Today's big story is that Indian Air Force aircraft dropped chemical bombs in Pakistan. Is this correct?

Raghu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:20 IST)
Group Captain Ganesh: Are Indians superior to Pakistanis as far as defence equipments is concern?

don (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:20 IST)
Mr. Ganesh why not our fighting people should catch the Pakistan foreign minsiter and ask him to pull back the intruders

Krishna (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:20 IST)
Capt. Ganesh, (1) are there plans to deploy troops in the LoC after the guerillas are driven out ? (2) can such problems be averted in the future ?

don (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:23 IST)
Please request to use latest weapons in the war. we know that we have latest ones. And why we are not using mig-27 very often

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:23 IST)

MEER (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:42 IST)
Hello Captain

John (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:44 IST)
Capt. Cant we give a fitting reply to the Pakis as the whole world is on our side

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:45 IST)
Capt. Ganesh, why are there no mobile SAM units deployed?

amarjang (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:45 IST)
Good evening, Group Captain. Is the lack of the right aircraft hampering operations??

Chezhiyan (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:48 IST)
The Pakis need to be wiped out without a trace - do u agree Captain?

Chezhiyan (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:49 IST)
Group Captain - Promise me that you'll wipe out the Pakis from the world map.

Aakansha (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:49 IST)
Captain: There was some concern about Flt Lt Nachiketa's ability to fly again. Is there a cause for concern about this?

Patriot (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:50 IST)
Capt. Sir. why is the Indian PR sooo bad. The Pakis take the whole world media to our downed Mig-27. If we are claiming that we have "incontrovertible" evidence that Pakistan is behind this whole mess, then why not show it to CNN, BBC and others. I think the military should take the initiative in this regard.

Aakansha (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:52 IST)
Sir, can u tell us what kind of aircraft are being used in Operation Vijay?

Indian (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:52 IST)
Captain Sir: Thanks for the answer. I guess the initial use was justified then. With them dispersed all over the place, I am quite sure the task of the ground forces is getting increasingly difficult. When does the monsoon begin there? Sometime in July I think. Is the weather a hindrance or an aid?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:53 IST)
CAPT. GANESH, IF AFTER 40 Yrs. IAF HAS NO CARPET BOMBERS, THEN THIS DOES NOT PRESENT A GOOD IMAGE.

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:55 IST)
CAPT. GANESH, IN JANUARY PAK HELICOPTER VIDEO TAPED SEVERAL AREAS IN KARGIL. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY JANE. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

senthil (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:55 IST)
SIR WHAT WILL BE YOUR REPLY TO THE PAKS AS THEY KILLED SIX OF OUR JAWANS

mahesh (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:55 IST)
Sir, I want to know when exactly will this war will end ?

senthil (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:57 IST)
SIR, IS THERE A CHANCE FOR WAR. HOPE INDIA WILL NEVER MAKE THAT MOVE FIRST

DDM (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:59 IST)
Are we in a position to win a war against Pak ? How long will it take?

someone (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:59 IST)
Sir, do we have a long-term plan and direction for the defence of India. Has the National Defence Council evolved a doctrine in this regard?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:0 IST)
CAPT. GANESH. WHY ARE PARATROOPERS NOT BEING USED IN MASSIVE NUMBERS?? WHY SEND ONLY SMALL UNITS TO BE SLAUGHTERED???

senthil (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:0 IST)
SIR I SAW THE MAP IN NEWSPAPER YESTERDAY. SOME OF OUR KASHMIR IS ALREADY OCCUPIED BY THEM. WHY CAN'T WE RECLAIM THE POK?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:2 IST)
CAPT. GANESH, FRANKLY 2 MONTHS IS A LONG TIME FOR A LARGE ARMY TO REMOVE INFILTRATORS.

USAFKicksButt (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:3 IST)
Gp.Capt>Why are you fighting the war as per the intruder's agenda? Why not cut off their communications and kill them in their staging areas? If you don't watch out with those politician bunglers, you will have the same untenable situation that our boys faced in Nam-Viet.

senthil (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:4 IST)
SIR, DO WE HAVE HELICOP'S HAVING ABILITY TO FLY IN THE NIGHT

Patriot (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:6 IST)
Capt. what kind of equipment could we have had now (but don't have) that would give us a even more advantage ???

someone (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:8 IST)
Sir, this may sound as a crazy idea. But can India request Pakistan permission to fly over POK airspace in order to have a more effective strike capability on the mountains? Pakistan does not acknowledge the existence of the intruders.

Indian (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:9 IST)
Captain Sir: Another IMPORTANT question comes to mind. With our forces so distracted with the intruders on the Kargil front, how prepared are we on other fronts? How about any aggressive bahaviour from China? What about the ULFA militants?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:12 IST)
CAPT. GANESH, DO U AGREE THAT ARMY HAD IGNORED THE INTRUSION UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE??

someone (Mon Jun 14 1999 6:13 IST)
Sir, why cannot we use guided missiles to bomb the intruders. We build the Prithvi missile for this purpose right?

sanjay (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:42 IST)
Capt. why are we not using carpet bombing to clean our area

MEER (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:43 IST)

Capt. Cant we give a fitting reply to the paks as the whole world is on our side ......

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:44 IST)
Even if we are using Napam, USA is not under any kind of globe trotting cop role to tell us not to do it. Remember NAM Bill?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:45 IST)
Capt. Ganesh,WHY ARE THERE NO MOBILE SAM UNITS DEPLOYED?

MastGul (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:45 IST)

USAFKicksButt (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:46 IST)
Inj>Hey, yu wanna climb that hill and go after them ragheads? I will see yu on CNN!!! In a normal sit, the army would send in their helos and the AF would go in with A10s. Its surreal, to have the AF control helos...only in India, I guess....

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:46 IST)
Paki: Info YES, Disinfo like you half breeds use, NO!

Indian (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:46 IST)

sanjay (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:46 IST)
Cann't U hear Pakistani just get out of this site at present.

Indian (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:47 IST)
USAF .. ummm .. consider this .. the helos are sitting ducks for the Stinger missiles .. that .. ahem .. the God damned YANKEES have gifted to the Pakistanis .. would you STILL recommend that approach?

USAFKicksButt (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:47 IST)
Rohit looks like just another turd world native with a chip on his shoulder aboutt he big boys....yu get enough to eat, pal?

Rohit Varma (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:47 IST)
Great now a joker who thinks he is a major terrorist!

USAFKicksButt (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:47 IST)
hey, its the Russkies fault....who asked them to go after the Afghans?

Abhimanyu (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:47 IST)
SANJAY, AGREE WITH U THAT "CARPET BOMBING" SHOULD BE USED BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET CAPT. GANESH's ATTENTION ON THIS

Chezhiyan (Mon Jun 14 1999 5:48 IST)
The Pakis need to be wiped out without a trace - do u agree Captain?
