Dr Aaron `Ali' Bacher
CEO of the 2003 World Cup Organising Committee
Monday, September 30, 2002
at 10:00 am IST

(00:30 EDT)
  Name

Dr Aaron `Ali' Bacher, former managing director of the United Cricket Board and now CEO of the 2003 World Cup Organising Committee, has made immense contributions to South African cricket. Bacher played just 12 Tests for South Africa as a batsman and captained the side that demolished, 4-0, the Australians led by Bill Lawry in 1970. Later, as a dynamic administrator, he masterminded the return of the Proteas to world cricket. Though he was criticized for organising rebel tours to South Africa during the period when the country was banned for its apartheid policy, it is to Bacher's credit that he enjoys the support of the coloured populace as well.

Join Dr Aaron (Ali) Bacher on the Rediff Chat on Monday, September 30, at 1000 IST as he discusses his plans for the quadrennial tournament.
