Rajesh Karkera/Rediff.com checks out the Tata Safari Gold.
The Tata Safari.
A name that instantly gets me nostalgic, being the proud owner of two earlier models since 1998!
So when I got a chance to take a closer look at the Safari Gold, nothing could stop me.
The Safari Gold is based on the same Tata Safari which I reviewed at the beginning of the year. In its Gold edition avatar, the Safari gets a host of subtle new touches.
Please click on the images for a better look at the Tata Safari Gold.
IMAGE: Only on seeing it up close do you notice the gold dust on its white paint.
IMAGE: The Black gold version too emitted gold dust on its paint... A colour that immediately made me think. This isn't black... This is something new...
IMAGE: The gold dust on the paint is more evident on the Black Gold... visible only when seen under bright light.
IMAGE: What the Tata Safari Gold edition gets is clearly 'GOLD'! Which starts at its front grille. With the Tri arrows and the Tata logo.
IMAGE: Look down and the headlight housing gets Gold embellishments.
IMAGE: The roof rails get gold accents too.
IMAGE: And the door handles.
IMAGE: We get 'Gold' badging on the fenders of course, and 18-inch Charcoal Black Alloy Wheels.
IMAGE: Enter the cabin and you will be welcomed with a new black gold dashboard with gold embellishments on the ac vents, the door handles and the centre console in the Black Gold version of the car.
The interiors of the Black Gold complement the exteriors with a stunning combination of Dark Marble finish mid pad.
IMAGE: The White Gold version gets an opposite White gold Marble finish mid pad with subtle golden accents plus the humanity line under the dashboard gets a gold finish in this.
IMAGE: The Tata Safari Gold is based upon XZ+/ XZA+ variants of the car and will get both a Manual and 6 Speed Automatic option, along with a 6 seater as well as a 7 seater configuration.
Apart from these with the Tata Safari Gold edition, you get a wireless charging facility, Air Purifier in the cabin and Android Auto and Apple Carplay over Wifi.
The best and very practical feature are the ventilated Genuine leather seats. On both the 1st and the 2nd row (available in the 6 seater option). Check out the video below to see the ventilated seats work closely along with the other changes.
And now for the price: The Tata Safari Gold is available in a Manual trim for ₹21.89 lakh and Automatic for ₹23.17 lakh ex-showroom.
