20 gadgets to look forward to this year

The entire tech world looks forward to the Consumer Electronics Show or CES held in Las Vegas, US, every year.

The show is a preview of the amazing gadgets that would come out in the market in that year, and most leading technology companies announce their products in the trade show.

From this year’s event that started on January 7, here are 20 gadgets that stand out.

New Tablets Up To 12.2 Inches

Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO line of tablets. The company claims that it is equipped with innovative and meaningful technology.

The line-up consists of four powerful devices - the Galaxy NotePRO (12.2-inch), TabPRO (12.2-inch, 10.1-inch, 8.4-inch).

The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO present the world’s first 12.2-inch Widescreen (16:10) display, offering a resolution (2560x1600) with more than 4 million pixels.

New Pro Tablets

The company has tied up with more than 11 of the leading mobile content and service providers to offer its Galaxy NotePRO users with up to approximately $700 worth of the pre-paid, long-term subscription offers from best-selling news, social media and cloud storage providers.

Some of the free subscription include 12 months of Bloomberg Businessweek+, 6-month of Cisco WebEx Meetings, New York Times, and Remote PC.

Galaxy Camera 2

Samsung also launched the Galaxy Camera 2. The new camera includes an upgraded 1.6GHz Quad Core processor, 2GB RAM, 2000mAh battery, 21x optical zoom, and 8 GB internal memory.

Intel Smart Wireless Charging Bowl

Intel has developed a smart wireless charging bowl where in the user can simply drop the smart headset into the bowl and it will begin to wirelessly recharge. The bowl can simultaneously charge multiple devices.

Asus Zen phones

ASUS announced ZenFone, a high-value smartphone series that offers a choice of screen sizes from 4 inches to 6 inches and is available in an array of striking colours.

ZenFone 4 is a thin and light 4-inch phone with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 processor. ZenFone 5 includes a HD display and 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor and ZenFone 6 is a phablet with a stylus.

Samsung Curved UHD TVs

Samsung also launched its first Curved Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs and announced its 2014 curved and UHD TV line-up.

The most eye catching among the TVs was the 110-inch curved UHD, which the company claims is the world’s largest.

Sampson Yang looks at a waterproof Nikon 1 Aw1 at the Nikon booth. This camera will retail for $800.

Eyes Scan Lock For Computers

Tony Antolino, Chief Marketing Officer for EyeLock, demonstrates the Myris, a USB-powered iris scan. The software converts iris characteristics to a unique code that can be used to unlock your computer.

Full-Body Gaming Sensors

YEI Technology's Chris George plays a computer game with PrioVR, a virtual reality gaming accessory.

Sensors on the player translate movement into the game. A full-body system retails for $400.

Put a Prong case on your iPhone, just pop out the prongs, and plug the whole thing into an outlet to charge the phone.

Charge Smartphone With Sun Rays

This case charges itself using solar photovoltaic cells and provides back up battery power to the smartphones. It comes with 1400 mAh battery.

Solar Powered Car

Ford C-MAX Solar Energi Concept car is displayed during the CES. The car incorporates concentrating solar voltaic panels in the vehicle roof. The car uses solar rays to charge the battery of this hybrid car.

The DJI S1000, an eight-bladed, aerial photography system by DJI Innovations, can hold can hold a Canon 5D for up to 15 minutes while airborne.

Robot For Pets

A Petzi Connect is displayed in the Petzila booth during the CES. The Internet-enabled device lets pet owners remotely interact with their pets, take photos and video, and dispense food. The device is expected to retail for $169.00 and be available in March 2014.

Be The Character In Your Favourite Game

At the CES, the Nikon booth has an awesome service. The booth had 68 cameras that fire at the same time. The images are processed to create a 3D model of the subject that can be placed inside a computer video game.

Health Tracking Watch

The $199 Basis health tracker has sensors that track various activity. The data is then translated into key metrics such as caloric burn, activity duration and even an array of sleep metrics.

Hyundai has announced a partnership with Covisint that will allow car owners to access vehicle information through Google Glass. As of now, the feature is only available Hyundai Genisis.

To clean the glass, switch the robot ‘on’, place it on the window, and press start and then you sit back and relax.

SmartOne Sensor for baby's health

A SmartOne infant sleep monitor is shown on a doll at the Sensible Baby booth during the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The wearable device fits into a chest pocket and sends information and active alerts on temperature, baby orientation and breathing to a parent's mobile device. The device will retail for $149.00 and be available online in the second quarter of 2014.

Schwinn CycleNav attaches to your bicycle, links to the GPS on your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, and flashes an LED light to alert you to an upcoming turn.

It also speaks voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation to you through a speaker, just like your iPhone does.
