While many jobs will become redundant as technology evolves, the change will also make way for new career opportunities.
To explore how the current education and landscape may evolve, Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan partnered with futurists to imagine a job fair of the future by examining social, technological, economic, and environmental changes occurring today.
The exploration led to a list of careers that will be the most important in 2030. While professions will sill be around, such as teacher and hotelier, the list also contained 14 jobs that do not exists today.

Robot Counsellor
In 2030, robots will play a greater part in providing home care and services than they do today. The new owners of these general-purpose household robots will need guidance picking the right unit for their home.
This is where a Robot Counsellor will come in handy. This person will be an excellent resource for picking the right bot for the family.

Nostalgist
The nostalgist will be an interior designer specialising in recreating memories for retired people.
Rather than settling for a typical ‘retirement village’ experience where everyone’s apartment looks the same, the wealthy elderly of 2030 will have the luxury of living in a space inspired by their favourite decade.

Garbage Designer
A new form of recycling that will likely become popular in 2030 is ‘upcycling’. Upcycling is the practice of turning waste into better quality products. Garbage designers are key to ensuring the success of upcycling.

Tele-surgeon
Using a combination of robotic surgery tools, scanning and sensing technologies and high-speed networks, surgeons will operate on people in far away locations.
Surgeons based in cities will virtually commute to where they’re needed and perform routine surgeries by remotely controlling robotic tools.

The Rewilder’s job will be to undo environmental damage to the countryside caused by people, factories, cars, and intensive one crop monoculture farming.

In 2030, the DJs and VJs will have to make room for the media remixer who mixes and combines a variety of media from across time to create one-of-a-kind products or experiences.
The media used in these products combines video, audio, images and augmented reality material to create marketing campaigns, educational tools, wedding montages, entertainment and one-of-a-kind experiences such as installation art or unique dining adventures.

The simplicity experts of 2030 will look at how business can simplify and streamline their operations.
The simplicity expert will reduce fifteen administrative steps to three, or four interviews to one, or three days of work to a half hour.

Aquaponic Fish Farmer
In 2030, populations of wild fish may reduce drastically. Instead of giving up this food, new production methods like aquaponics will step in to replace fish that we can no longer catch in the wild.
Aquaponics combines fish farming with gardening, where plants grow over water to cover its surface, while fish live below. And an Aquaponic fish farmers will be able to set up operations nearly everywhere.
