Leasable area: 6 59,612 square meters

It’s an irony that the world’s largest mall is mostly vacant 8 years after it was built.

The world’s largest mall based on gross leasable area and second in total area after Dubai Mall, it is often called a ‘dead mall’.

New South China Mall has space for around 2,350 stores. The mall was designed to represent seven zones, modeled on international cities - Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Venice, Egypt, the Caribbean, and California.

Other highlights of the mall are a replica of Venice's St Mark's bell tower, a 2.1 kilometre canal with gondolas, and a 553-meter indoor-outdoor roller coaster.

A bad location spelled doom for the mall as the area has a large population of factory workers. It is also a far off location, quite inaccessible to a majority of people.
