Telecom operators can look forward to offering all telecom and broadcasting services, including cable TV, DTH, STD, ISD and radio, through a single licence by paying a one-time fee of Rs 107 crore (Rs 1.07 billion).

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, in its recommendations on Thursday, called for reduction in revenue share as licence fee to a maximum of six per cent from the current 15 per cent of the adjusted gross revenue and proposed no revenue share or entry fee for a number of services.

It suggested a unified regime where a licensee will be able to provide any or all telecom services by acquiring a single licence. However, to offer broadcasting services, the unified licensee will have to apply to the I&B Ministry in case such clearance is needed to fulfil other requirements.

Customers can get all telecom services including voice, data, cable TV, Direct-to-Home TV, radio broadcasting through a single wire or wireless system from a unified licensee.
