Roshni, who returned from the US in October 2008, has been involved with HCL before taking over as ED and CEO. An MBA, in social enterprise management and strategy, from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, she will be responsible for strategic decision making regarding overall future directions of the HCL Corporation, according to a company release.
HCL corporation has controlling stakes in both HCL Infosystems and HCL Technologies.
Saurav Adhikari, corporate vice president - strategy, HCL Technologies said Roshni Nadar will be involved only in HCL Corporation and not either HCL Infosystems or Shiv Nadar Foundation, a non-profit
organisation run by her father.
Meanwhile, Shiv Nadar said that the Foundation is setting up a university at Greater Noida near New Delhi. It proposes to invest Rs 600 crore (Rs 6 billion) in the project.
He said phase-I construction is likely to commence within a month and to be completed before 2010. The project will be funded by the foundation, he added.
The university will be set up in 300 acres of land, acquired with an investment of Rs 120 crore (Rs 1.2 billion). It will offer courses on technology and management.
