The markets saw an intra day reversal and ended in red after trading in the positive terrain for major part of the day. The Sensex was ended down 30.23 points or 0.23% at 13156.66, and the Nifty was down 10.50 points or 0.28% at 3798.75.
About 1107 shares have advanced, 1371 shares declined, and 77 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Midcap Index was up 0.21% or 11.75 points at 13,156.66.
The BSE Small Cap Index was up 0.02% or 1.44 points at 5,563.44.
The BSE Auto Index was down 0.47% or 25.03 points at 5,348.01. Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto, Sundram, Tube Investment, Bharat Forge, MICO and Escorts dragged.
The BSE Bankex was down 0.4% or 25.86 points at 5,348.01. Andhra Bank, UTI Bank, Karnataka Bank, Vijaya Bank, Union Bank and Bank of Baroda slipped.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was down 0.87% or 76.79 points at 3,319.37. Gammon India, Thermax, Ingersoll Rand, Siemens and BEML fell.
The BSE FMCG Index gained was down 0.5% or 10.47 points at 8,783.92. Dabur India, ITC, Tata Tea, Colgate and Nirma tumbled.
The BSE Health Care Index was up 0.65% or 24.03 points at 2,078.41. Apollo Hospital, Sterling Bio, Dr Reddys Labs, Wockhardt and Glenmark surged.
The BSE IT Index was up 0.5% or 23.83 points at 3,729.80. Moser Baer, HCL Info, Infosys and TCS rose.
The BSE Metal Index was up 0.66% or 60.88 points at 4,782.32. Sesa Goa, Sterlite Ind, Hind Zinc, Jindal Steel and Welspun Guj gained.
The BSE Oil and Gas Index was down 1.04% or 66.02 points at 9,280.88. HPCL, BPCL, Chennai Petro, IOC plunged.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 9053.55 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 27150.74 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4716.76 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 40921.05 crore.
