Sensex down 17 points at close

The Sensex opened with a small positive gap of five points at 7,997, and touched a high of 8,045 in early morning deals. After drifting to a low of 7,951 (an intra-day swing of 94points), the Sensex finally finished with  a loss of 17 points at 7,975. Nifty down 10 points at 2408.

Reliance declined Rs 4 to Rs 764. HLL was down Rs 2 at Rs 165, and ITC also slipped Rs 2 to Rs 117. While ONGC was up Rs 2 at Rs 932, SBI was flat at Rs 885.

TCS dropped Rs 21 to Rs 1,422. Infosys was down Rs 10 at Rs 2,512.
Satyam and Wipro

also declined today.

Tata Motors declined over 4% (Rs 22) to Rs 498. Bajaj was down Rs 32 at Rs. 1,765. Maruti and Hero Honda also declined today.

Tata Power slipped 3.8% (Rs 16) to Rs 398. NTPC was down 2.6% (Rs 3) to Rs 96. Reliance Energy was down Rs 7 at Rs 523.

Ranbaxy was firm right through the session, and moved up nearly 4% (Rs 13) to Rs 357. Cipla was up 2% (Rs 7) at Rs 374. Dr. Reddy's declined 2.6% (Rs 21) to Rs 822.

Grasim moved up 3.6% (Rs 40) to Rs 1,153. HDFC was up Rs 15 at Rs 928. Bharti added Rs 7 to Rs 337.
