Sensex gains 20 points at close

Late buying in the markets led the Sensex zoom to a high of 5,224. The index finally closed at 5,218 - up 20 points. The Nifty gained five points at 1,634.

Reliance ended Rs 2 higher at Rs 474. While HLL shed a per cent (Re 1) to Rs 111, ITC was closed a rupee weak at Rs 1,038.

Satyam rallied over 2% (Rs 7) to Rs 358. Infosys and Wipro posted marginal gains at Rs 1,607 and Rs 581, respectively.

Bhel surged over 4% (Rs 24) to Rs 593 with a combined (BSE+NSE) volume of around 21.38 lakh shares.

While ONGC gained Rs 3 at Rs 708, HPCL shed Rs 3 to Rs 313.

SBI advanced over 2% (Rs 10) to Rs 462. While ICICI Bank moved up a rupee to Rs 263, HDFC Bank dropped a rupee to Rs 370.

Tisco spurted a per cent (Rs 2) to Rs 250, and Hindalco was up Rs 7 at Rs 1,180.

Tata Power surged over 3% (Rs 9) to Rs 279 with around 34.52 lakh shares changing hands on the BSE &

NSE. Reliance Energy was up Rs 3 at Rs 640.

Zee zoomed 3.6% (Rs 5.50) to Rs 159, and the counter clocked a combined volume of around 52.12 lakh shares.
