The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 34 points to close the day at 5067. NSE Nifty gained 13 points at 1592.
While Infosys closed in the negative coming under selling pressure, Reliance ended up.
ITC gained over a per cent at Rs 1,028. Reliance was up marginally at Rs 453.
HLL witnessed profit-taking towards the close, and finished flat at Rs 110.
Wipro and Satyam held gains till the close to finish at Rs 572 and Rs 338, respectively. Infosys was down Rs 7 at Rs 1,553.
Cement stocks witnessed buying towards the close. Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja ended 2.2% higher each at Rs 1,091 and Rs 320, respectively. ACC ended marginally higher at Rs 261.
