Mahindra & Mahindra has said it is all set to sell its sport utility vehicle Scorpio in European markets.
Scorpio completed one year on Indian roads on Thursday.
An M&M release said in Mumbai that Scorpio is now set to enter European markets like Italy, Spain, Serbia and Macedonia, where the company has put in place distribution channels.
The company was also at an advanced stage to commence operations in markets like West Asia, South Africa, Indonesia, South and Central America and Russia, it said.
During the 12 months, around 15,000 Scorpios were sold by M&M, it added.
M&M executive director and president of automotive sector Alan Durante said, "The tremendous customer response, juxtaposed by the recognition in terms of awards both domestic and international really proves the global character of the Scorpio. Going ahead, we plan to replicate the Scorpio's domestic success in international markets".
The company executive vice-president, sales and marketing, automotive sector, Rajesh Jejurikar said, "We plan to introduce a number of new Scorpio variants and replicate the Scorpio ownership experience in increasing cities across India to ensure the continued success of the vehicle".
Interestingly, more than 75 per cent of Scorpio buyers have been owners of mid-size and luxury cars, he added.
