SBI Q2 net up at Rs 1,215 cr

India's largest commercial bank State Bank of India on Thursday reported a 12 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 1,215 crore (Rs 12.15 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 from Rs 1,082 crore (Rs 10.82 billion) during same period last fiscal.

The total income increased to Rs 9,856 crore (Rs 98.56 billion) during July-September 2005 from Rs 9,737 crore (Rs 97.37 billion) in the same period of last year, SBI informed the bourses.

The SBI group's consolidated net profit stood at Rs 1,590.75 crore (Rs 15.90 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 1,227.6 crore (Rs 12.27 billion) during the year ago period.

The total income of India's biggest financial group was up at Rs 13,974.28 crore (Rs 139.74 billion) during the period from Rs 13,142.23 crore (Rs 131.42 billion) in the same period last year.
