Paid R-World nets Rs 1 cr in 2 days

Reliance Infocomm on Tuesday claimed that it has earned Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million) within two days of making its R World service paid and pegged the monthly revenue at Rs 25 crore (Rs 250 million).

R World is set to generate an estimated monthly revenue of Rs 25 crore, the company said adding the popularity of R World remained high after it was made paid service with effect from April 1.

Much of the Rs 1 crore revenue was contributed by the first Indo-Pak one day match at Kochi, Reliance Infocomm said.

The service offers 150 applications including Railway ticket booking, exam results and charges range from Rs 2 to Rs 25.

Then applications have been classified into four categories -- membership, pay-on-entry, pay-on-use and free.

R-World tariff structure has been devised keeping in mind customer convenience, affordability and flexibility of use and is set to generate an estimated Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion) annually.

The membership category has a monthly charge of Rs 25. Pay-on-entry includes railway booking, web mail, mobile banking and costs Rs 2-Rs 4 per log-in irrespective of duration.

Pay-on-use, which offers ringtones, greetings, exam results, cricket score are charged between Rs 2-Rs 10.
