Majority of music lovers prefer listening to music on FM radio than on television, according to a survey.

While 62 per cent females prefer music on FM to that on TV, only 38 per cent males listen to radio, says the survey conducted by Zarca Interactive.

People aged between 23 and 30 listen most to radio compared with those among other age groups.

Twenty-five per cent of executives avidly listen to radio, closely followed by 23 per cent of IT professionals.

While 33 per cent of respondents listen to radio advertisements often, 61 per cent listen to them occasionally.

Despite an FM invasion, 74 per cent of listeners still purchase music CDs and cassettes, though some of them do not purchase them as regular as before, says the survey.

FM radio helps 55 per cent of listeners increase music listening habits. Reflecting a similar response, 45 per cent respondents feel that FM will give television a run for its money.

While 98.3 FM Radio Mirchi emerged popular among radio channels in Mumbai, AIR FM2 proved the most sought after channel in New Delhi.
