CII for transparency in poll funding

The President of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Anand Mahindra, reiterated that the industry association was in favour of a transparent method of election funding.

He also urged companies to fund political parties only through cheques. "We are also in support of state funding of the poll campaigns and urge the corporates to adhere to lawful means," Mahindra said.

He also announced CII's partnership with the Election Commission to create awareness among the voters about their electoral rights.

"We will seek more participation from member companies to mobilise voters and will use the existing company infrastructure and kiosks for informing voters," Mahindra said.
