The new Innova will be powered by a 2.0-litre or a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which will a far more superior version of the current Innova.

Surprise! Toyota is working on the next-generation Innova and it was a while ago we reported on the new Innova, the engine will be downsized, now we have got an even more clear idea for the same.

The new Innova will be based on a new chassis, which will be lighter than the current Innova (that is built on IMV platform that is shared with the Fortuner and Hilux) by a good 80-90kgs.

However, now we have got the confirmation that the next Innova will be a lot more muscular in looks than the current-generation MPV.

The new Innova will be powered by a 2.0-litre or a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which will a far more superior version of the current Innova.

This engine will be a lot more powerful and will come with an automatic as well. The new-generation Innova will be a lot more luxurious than the current Innova and its pricing will be much higher than the current one.

Now, these factors don’t really make a good business idea, so we dug in deeper.

As a replacement for the current Innova, Toyota will introduce the Innova Cross.

This will be the current Innova with lesser features and a more stylish looking MUV with cladding, something similar to Etios Cross.

Toyota has already registered for the Innova Cross name and both these MUVs will be launched by late 2016, or maybe even early 2017.

The Innova Cross will get be the same Innova with the 2.5-litre diesel engine and five-speed manual transmission, while the new Innova will be premium MUV.

The rumours about Avanza aren’t true as there no plans to introduce it till 2018. Toyota will place the Innova Cross somewhere a little above the Honda Mobilio pricing, and the new Innova will be placed above the Innova Cross.

MotorOctane.com contacted Toyota to understand in more detail both the two MUVs, however the company officials denied from commenting on any future products.
