ONGC Q1 net up 44% at Rs 6,636.33 cr

State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation on Monday announced a net profit of Rs 6,636.33 crore (Rs 66.36 billion) in the first quarter ended June 30, a 43.94 per cent growth from that in the corresponding period a year-ago.

The firm had posted a net profit of Rs 4,610.53 crore (Rs 46.10 billion) in the first quarter of FY'08, ONGC said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The total income rose 45.27 per cent to Rs 21,102.22 crore (Rs 211.02 billion) in the June quarter, against Rs 14,526.51 crore (Rs 145.26 billion) in the same period a year-ago.

Shares of ONGC closed at Rs 1,012.50 on the BSE, up 3 per cent from the previous close.
