Cellular operator Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched a new service that will enable its pre-paid and post-paid customers to retrieve contact numbers stored in their phones in case of loss or damage of the handset at a monthly rental of Rs 30.

The 'Save my Phone Contact' service will enable Airtel customers in Delhi to store and retrieve their contacts anytime through an SMS. The service would give users the security to retrieve their phone book even when they lose or damage the handset or SIM card or when they have utilised the memory space in the phone book, the company said in a release.

'In today's fast-paced world, it is a great sense of security to have the information of friends, family, business partners and colleagues in safe hands,' Bharti Airtel Delhi Circle (Mobility) CEO Christopher Tobit said.

The new service can be accessed on 686 via SMS where the user registration happens via SMS or the web interface.

Similarly, Airtel customers can retrieve contact details by sending keyword RET to 686. There would be no additional charge for storing and retrieving the contact details, the release added.
