Over 50 management institutes from South India will participate in 'Managemantra-2004,' a two-day event that begins Chennai on November 5 to showcase young managerial talent to companies for on-the-spot recruitments.
Organised by the southern region of Confederation of Indian Industry, Managemantra-2004 will allow the management institutes in Tamil Nadu and other southern states to showcase some of the best available fresh MBA graduates in a single forum for immediate employment, the organisers told reporters.
"This year, we expect 50 institutes and 40 companies to participate in the event," said R Ramaraj, chairman, Managemantra 2004 and managing director & CEO of Sify Ltd.
Managemantra-2004 is the third edition of the event, which began in 2002.
Last year, 40 colleges participated in the event and 227 letters of intent were given to students by companies. "About 150 students ended up getting jobs," Ramaraj said.
"Managemantra is an ideal platform for institutes, which were never part of companies' campus recruitment programme," said P K Mohapatra, chairman, CII Education Sub-committee and president & chief executive of RPG Enterprises (IT&Telecom).
This year's Managemantra-2004 will be held at Tidel Park, Chennai, a change from last two years venue when it was held at IIT Madras campus. "We wanted to give the students a real feel of the business environment," said Mohapatra.
The winners of Managemantra-2004 will carry cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Consolation prizes of Rs 5000 each will be awarded to the other finalists.
