LG Electronics India Ltd on Friday announced the launch of 'Centrino' range of notebook personal computers in India with a target to sell about 7,200 units in the market this year.

"These are top-end notebook PCs with longest battery life, up to 10 hours. The Centrino series is priced between Rs 99,000 to Rs 140,000," Anil Arora, head marketing, LGEIL, told reporters at a conference in New Delhi.

The notebook models launched on Friday are LM40, LM50, LS50 and LS40.

Commenting on the battery life, Arora said the series came with LG's proprietary 'battery maximising technology' which allows the notebook up to 10 hours of battery life from a single charge cycle.

The LCD is 33 per cent brighter and the viewing angle wider than conventional notebooks, allowing for higher quality pictures from any angle without any reduction in brightness.

LG has two manufacturing units for notebook PCs, in China and Korea.

This year the company is targeting about 7,200 notebook units.

"When we launch new products in third and fourth quarter, we will be considering the option of providing Linux as the operating system," he said.
