Former Indian President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will talk about India's prospects for knowledge economy, including research, education and entrepreneurship, at an event organised in the Silicon Valley on September 18.

The event is being organised jointly by the Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association of North America, Pan-IIT, India Community Center and TiE Silicon Valley.

Kalam, one of India's most distinguished scientists and thought leaders, will focus on ways in which he can help marshal and channel Indo-American efforts and capability to further Indian aspirations and Indo-US collaborations, particularly in research, education and rural development.

"He is coming to the west coast for something else. Since he is going to be here for a short period, all of us decided to do organise a special event for him," said a TiE Silicon Valley official.

"It will certainly give all of us a great opportunity to hear his vision for India's development," said Sunita Kapur of TiE Silicon Valley.
