Contact centre and business process outsourcing provider 24/7 Customer is expanding its Chennai facility by adding 1000 new jobs in the next six to nine months, its chief operating officer said on Tuesday.
The Chennai facility, which has a capacity of 250 seats, would be expanded to 500 seats over the next six months, Shanmugam Nagarajan, who is also the founder of the company, said in a statement in Chennai.
Nagarajan said that the company plans to close this financial year with 7000 employees and a campus of its own in Bangalore.
24/7 Customer's Chennai centre is the third facility of the company in India after Bangalore and Hyderabad. "24/7 Customer will tap into the vast talent available in the city and leverage the city's robust infrastructure to deliver BPO services to customers in the US and UK," he said.
"The expansion of the Chennai centre is part of a strategic initiative to be present in multiple locations and also augurs well with our aggressive growth plans," Nagarajan said.
24/7 Customer, which has Global 1000 companies as its clients, had received 22 million funding from Sequoia Capital in June 2003 to fund growth and expansion.
