Inflation rises to 3.11%

Inflation increased to 3.11 per cent for the week ended November 3, compared to 2.97 per cent a week ago, mainly due to rise in prices of food items, petroleum products and manufactured articles.

The wholesale price-based index stood at 5.45 per cent in the corresponding week last year. Among food items, fish marine, eggs, moong and bajra became expensive, while prices of fruits & vegetables and poultry chicken came down.

Prices of aviation turbine fuel flared up by five per cent while that of furnace oil shot up by six per cent.  In manufactured items, imported edible oil, sunflower oil, ghee got more expensive. However, prices of groundnut oil and sugar declined.
