Inflation based on the wholesale-price-index remained unchanged at 6.46 per cent for the week ended March 17 when compared to the week before. In fact, inflation is now unchanged for the last three weeks.
Ajay Dua, secratary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion of government of India said that the index of the manufactured products showed higher increase, especially due to costly steel, ferrous products, paper and leather goods.
He added that the pace of the manufacturing products index is catching up with overall inflation rate, which is a matter of concern.
