Addressing an engineering services summit, organised by Nasscom, he said India is putting greater focus on engineering services segment, which he said, "lays the foundation for manufacturing".
Pointing out that engineering services "facilitate growth of manufacturing", he said India wants to "compete better with a country like China, with a strong platform of engineering services".
He said global companies are looking for mitigating risk in the area of offshored engineering services and are shifting portion of the outsourced work from China to India.
Both Raju and Nasscom president Kiran Karnik stressed the need for all stake-holders to gear up to tap a huge opportunity for India in the offshored engineering space.
Engineering services hubs would have to be created in new locations in India, in addition to the existing destinations of IT services like Bangalore and Chennai, said Karnik.
