IA offer: 16 tickets for Rs 65,000!

In its bid to attract the growing number of air travellers in the country, Indian Airlines on Tuesday announced the launch of its 'Bumper Super Saver' scheme providing 16 flight coupons to anywhere on the domestic sector for Rs 65,000.

The scheme, which does not require advance purchase or any other booking condition, would be launched on Wednesday and the tickets would be valid for one year from the date of issue.

"The passenger can take these coupons and go straight to the airport and board a flight, provided seats are available," IA's director (PR) Manjira Khurana said.

The coupons, printed in limited numbers, would be sold from IA offices all over the country.

A coupon, which would cost on an average a little over Rs 4,000, can be used for any domestic destination, barring travel on four sectors where two coupons would be required for a single flight.

These sectors are Delhi to Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore and vice versa.

Claiming that the scheme would offer 'a very great value for money,' Khurana said even the frequent flyers would get additional benefits through a uniform 500 points per coupon.

The scheme would be valid for one year from the date of issue.

The only requirement for the passenger would be to carry a valid photo identity document, which would also be used at the time of booking. The scheme was a limited-period offer with sales commencing from Wednesday, Khurana added.

Asked if the scheme was launched to help IA gain 'lost ground' in passenger traffic, she said the public sector carrier had been leading the aviation industry in marketing such schemes which were being 'copied by the private sector.'

"We have always given a new direction in schemes and product features."
