The Law Commission is working on the concept of establishing specialised commercial courts in the high courts keeping in view the multi-fold increase in the corporate litigations in the recent past, Law and Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Jaitley said that the commercial litigation in the advent of more and more foreign direct investments coupled with the growth of the corporate sector has thrown up the possibility of establishing specialised courts to decide disputes relating to the corporate sector and dispense justice speedily.

Speaking at the Law Day function in the Supreme Court, the minister said that his job was also to go to various countries and convince the industrialists as to why they should invest in India.

"As the great debate rages across the globe as to which is a better investment destination -- India or China -- we use a 10 point scale to stress that our country was a better place for FDI," he said, adding, "One of the most important reasons we give is the fairness of our judiciary."

"We tell the investors that ours is a country governed by the rule of law and that we have a very fair, independent and powerful judicial system to take care of any of their grievances relating to investments," he said.
