The company sold 1,303 units of its Ambassador car in December 2004 as compared to 863 units in December 2003, an HM release said in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"The growth in sales performance of the Ambassador can be attributed to the continuous improvement we have been bringing in the product," Soni Shrivastav, general manager, corporate communications, C K Birla group, said.
Ambassador sales have been up since the beginning of the financial year.
The company recorded a 7.17 per cent growth in Ambassador sales during April-December 2004, selling 8,907 units as compared to the previous year's 8,311 units, Shrivastav said.
