The SpiceJet management is planning offer stock options option to high performers.

The turnaround of low-cost airline SpiceJet is attracting fresh talent from the sector.

The country’s second largest low-cost air carrier had earlier seen an exodus of executives, pilots and cabin crew as it faced a near-death experience.

According to sources, 40 executives in the middle to senior level are set to join the airline from rival IndiGo.

Saptarshi Bose, senior manager of revenue management at Indigo, returned to SpiceJet as general manager, revenue management and network planning. Pahuna Lal, who was a part of the team that worked on Indigo’s listing, has taken charge as deputy head of corporate strategy and projects at SpiceJet.

“Many of our former executives have joined back.

People from other airlines also want to join the company now,” said Ajay Singh, chairman, SpiceJet.

Singh has decided to offer bigger roles to loyal mid-level executives.

Kiran Koteshwar, an old-timer at SpiceJet, has been designated chief financial officer.

Sukanya Anbalagan, earlier deputy general manager, has replaced Shalini Vohra as head of the human resources department.

The SpiceJet management is planning offer stock options option to high performers.

“We want the second layer to take more responsibility. This provides the team motivation that one can work one’s way up the ladder,” Singh said.
