Hyundai Motor India Limited today announced a Rs12,000 hike in the ex-showroom prices of the Euro-II-compliant versions of its 999cc Santro.

The Euro-II-compliant car will be available as an additional option for each of Hyundai's three variants.

The prices of the existing versions will remain unchanged, a statement issued in New Delhi today said.

The Santro is available in three versions. The base model is priced at Rs299,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), Santro DX with power windows and central door locking at Rs349,000 and Santro DX with power steering at Rs369,000.

The board of directors of the company met in New Delhi today and decided to absorb a major portion of the costs of technological upgradation required to achieve Euro-II compliance. It also decided that all future products of Hyundai, including the next offering code-named LC, will meet the Euro-II emission norms from the time of their launch in the country.

The Euro-II-compliant cars will hit the streets in the National Capital Region by the month-end.

Speaking on the eve of the production of the Euro-II-compliant Santro, HMIL managing director Y S Kim said, "The production of the Euro-II-compliant Santro will commence this week, and deliveries will begin from the end of this month. The Euro-II option will be offered to customers across the country wherever unleaded fuel is available."
