Email this report to a friend

The elections to fill the four vacancies to the governing board of the Bombay Stock Exchange for the year 1999-2000 were held today.

The four candidates elected as directors to the board of the country's oldest stock exchange are Bhagirath Merchant, Motilal Oswal, Jayesh Sheth and Himanshu Kaji. There were 11 candidates in the fray.

The four vacancies arose on account of expiry of the term of former BSE president M G Damani and member Jayesh Sheth, the resignation of Rajendra Bhantia as the exchange's vice-president and the death of Mahendra Kampani.

Apart from the four newly elected directors, the five other members of the board are BSE president J C Parekh, Anand Rathi, Dina Mehta, Kirti Bhagwandas and Ramesh Damani.
