The "last" CCTV footage of Bob Woolmer aired by BBC on Monday night shows him with two Pakistani journalists one of whom said the video was of March 16, two days before the coach of the Pakistani cricket team was found dead in his hotel room in Jamaica.

The two persons shown in the BBC footage with Woolmer in the hotel in Kingston are journalists Majid Bhatti, senior cricket correspondent of the Jung group of newspapers, and Ehsan Qureshi of state-owned news agency APP.

The World Cup will be remembered for the wrong reasons

Bhatti told PTI that "I started getting calls from everywhere and I was surprised to learn about the footage. But it was from March 16, one day before the match against Ireland and we were speaking to Woolmer as we returned from a party for the Irish team."

Bhatti said the footage showed him and Qureishi at the reception of the Pegasus hotel in Kingston on March 16, a day before the match with Ireland which Pakistan lost leading to its shocking exit from the World Cup.

Bhatti said they discussed different points with Woolmer including reports in the Pakistani media that the coach was focussed more on writing his diaries than the coaching job.

Woolmer dismissed it by saying the Pakistani media was biased against him and in any case he never read the Pakistani newspapers and then walked towards the lift and went away, according to Bhatti.

Bhatti told Geo TV, which is part of the Jung group, that the footage shown by BBC has already been shown to them several days after the death of Woolmer and he, along with the Pakistani team's media manager P J Mir have already seen it.

He said he found it "intriguing" that BBC chose to air it showing it as a "breakthrough" and he is exploring venues to take action against the television channel.
