Time to boycott cricket

Are we hearing, BCCI to make drastic changes? Isn't this funny? The very Board which was responsible for selecting and fielding a below par team, to the surprise of billion-plus Indians, is talking about radical measures!!

This is going to be another big hype, politically driven, to please the public and critical politicians. How can you justify the inclusion of Sunil Gavaskar in the discussion of our team's disastrous performance? I respect Sunil Gavaskar as a very good Test batsman. But when it comes to opinions, he is far from reality. His open bias toward the non-performing Sachin Tendulkar is well known to every fellow Indian. Why wasn't G R Viswanath included instead of Sunil Gavaskar in this panel? Why are we not giving this to any unbiased third party to analyze and report to the Indian public the true reasons for this disaster?

Five reasons why India failed

Sharad Pawar doesn't need to tell us winning and losing is part of any game. This is not rocket science!! It is the manner in which we lost to a team like Bangladesh that beats all logic and challenges wildest imagination. That was a shameful performance demonstrated by the BCCI eleven who went down because of wanting guts and missing talent than any kind of extraordinary performance from the Bangladesh team.

If you can recall, it was Dilip Vengsarkar who put up a team with Tendulkar, Sehwag, and Pathan. Dilip was very happy to announce Sachin Tendulkar as the vice-captain, a solid way to retain him in the team at all cost. Sharad Pawar went into the records saying Sehwag will bounce back since he has performed well in the past. Remember Sehwag consistently failed for about two years and the chief of the BCCI said he is going to bounce back. The same BCCI chief now says he will take into consideration only the current performance when it comes to team selection. Wow! Why did God create most Indians so resilient to take any crap from these people?

'Batsmen let Dravid down'

Don't we know the root cause of our failure in the World Cup?

Non performers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag, and Irfan Pathan were openly included and favored.

Captain Rahul Dravid, lacked the necessary motivation skills to extract the best out of our team.

Rahul Dravid failed to impress as a batsman and didn't have a captain's winning knock in the crucial match.

Though the bowlers performed reasonably well, they were never a threat to blow out the opponents.

We lost our first wicket quickly in the very early stages of each and every game.

Dhoni as known failed to perform anywhere outside our subcontinent

Uthappa didn't work on the opportunity given to him to produce any great knock

Team lacked the killer instinct to go all out to win the match.

Failures of all the batsmen in crucial matches

Missing consistency from everyone on the team

'How can you ignore someone like Anil Kumble?'

Greg Chappell didn't push for the exclusion of these non-performers. Obviously, he could not do much to our over-hyped, zero performing warriors like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag and so on.

Players were more involved in signing contracts for new and on-going commercials as opposed to thinking in terms of improving their performance.

As known, we didn't put up any decent performance outside our country.

Bottomline, BCCI/selectors fielded their favorite eleven and not the robust eleven keeping Indian interests in mind. This was a good time for Rahul Dravid to quit captaincy. Unfortunately, he has proved to be another cricketer like Sachin Tendulkar wanting to hang on at all cost despite his failures.

Don't blame Dravid and Chappell: More

Let every Indian take this opportunity and boycott this sport altogether. Let us to plan to spend our precious time in building a corrupt free, technologically superior India rather than watching cricket and undergoing emotional stress.

The BCCI or our selectors will not change unless and until every one of us boycott this sport wholeheartedly and every media takes this up seriously. With one billion-plus population we should be able to put up 10 quality world class teams who can beat every other team out there. But we have ignored the interests of India by deliberately sending a non-performing team blocking the entry of young talents and refusing to explore new faces.
