Hayden is the most valuable player

Australia's Matthew Hayden emerged as the most valuable player (MVP) of the 2007 World Cup. New Zealand's Scott Styris and Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya (who scored 63 in 67 balls in the final) are second and third respectively.

This is been Australia's World Cup, with 5 Australians in the top 10, and 8 in the top 20.

Adam Gilchrist (4), who played the World Cup's finest innings, picked up an incredible 235 points for his 149 in 104 balls, two catches and one stumping in the final. He climbed 17 places to end up fourth.

Glenn McGrath, who took 26 wickets and emerged as the player of the series, was fifth. Other Australians in the top 20 are: Brad Hogg (7), Ricky Ponting (9), Michael Clarke (12), Shaun Tait (13) and Nathan Bracken (19).

After their relatively disappointing performance in the final, Mahela Jayawardene and Muttiah Muralitharan ended at the tenth and eleventh places.

Three batsmen scored over 500 runs while Styris scored 499; but Sachin Tendulkar's World Cup record of 673 in 2003 has not been broken. Recall that batsmen have round faces and a short and wide nose.

Here are the Chernoff faces of the nine highest wicket-taking bowlers in the 2007 World Cup (bowling points | wickets / no. of runs conceded per over).

Bowlers have tapered faces, a tall and thin nose, and bigger ears if they take more wickets.

Finally, here are the Chernoff faces of the nine most successful fielders in the 2007 World Cup ( fielding points | run outs / catches / stumpings).

Fielders who take a lot of catches have wide eyebrows (see "McCullum" or "Gilchrist"), and those that participate in run out dismissals have bigger eyes ("Bravo" and "Vincent").
