Pressure map: South Africa vs Australia

There's something about Australia that seriously bothers its rivals. South Africa came out with a plan to ruthlessly attack the Australian bowlers. When that plan failed horribly, South Africa didn't know what to do. They folded up for 149.

The target of 150 was ridiculously small; the rediff.com expert reckoned that Australia could easily get to 250; Australia's pressure index (PI) at the start of the innings was just 23.

Adam Gilchrist fell early, but that didn't increase Australia's pressure at all. Ricky Ponting came out and blazed away merrily. Even Ponting's dismissal for 22 didn't perturb the Australians; Matthew Hayden and Michael Clarke merely decided to lower the momentum by a notch.

Hayden and Clarke carried on unhurriedly till Hayden fell for 41 at 110. At this point the PI was just 22.

Andrew Symonds and Clarke eventually knocked off the 40 remaining runs.

Even Australia couldn't have expected South Africa to cave in so meekly.
