Pressure map: Ireland vs Bangladesh

A target of 244 against a modest Irish attack was not a very tough ask. The rediff.com expert reckoned that Bangladesh could chase up to 250. The pressure index (PI) therefore opened at 94.

Bangladesh controlled the match well during the first 10 overs: after 5 overs it was 18/0 with a PI of 91, and although the PI climbed briefly to 111, when Nafees fell, Aftab and Tamim brought it down to 94 by taking 18 runs off a Rankin over.

Bangladesh began losing it between overs 10-15 when Aftab and Saqibul perished and the PI rose to 136.

Between overs 15-20, Tamim and Ashraful pulled it back and Bangladesh were looking sufficiently good at 93/3 with a PI of 107.

Sadly, Tamim and Ashraful were dismissed in quick succession and, at 102/5 after 22 overs, the PI was a daunting 148.

Very few sides can recover from that sort of pressure: this Bangladesh side captained by an inert Habibul Bashar had absolutely no chance.
