West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels is struggling with a knee injury less than three weeks before the start of the World Cup, the West Indies Cricket Board's website reported on Thursday.
The 22-year-old right-hander is flying home to Jamaica from the team's training camp in Antigua to undergo a scan on his suspect left knee, which ruled him out of action for several months last year.
Samuels has scored 1,087 runs in 39 one-day internationals with a best innings of 108
If Samuels fails to recover, his place in the West Indies squad is likely to go to Barbados left-hander Ryan Hinds.
West Indies' first match of the tournament is against tournament hosts South Africa on February 9 in Cape Town.
