Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra on Monday hailed Devendra Jhajharia after the javelin thrower won a stupendous third Paralympic medal in Tokyo.
Javelin throwers Jhajharia and Sundar Singh Gurjar won silver and bronze respectively in the in the men's javelin throw - F46 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Neeraj, who won a history gold medal in javelin at the Tokyo Games earlier this month, congratulated the two para-athletes on their outstanding performances in the Games.
"Devendra bhai sahab: you are such an inspiration to all of us Congratulations on your 3rd #Paralympics medal! Many congratulations to Sundar bhai also for winning a bronze," tweeted Chopra, the first Indian to win a gold in track and field in the Olympics.
The 40-year-old Jhajahria, already India's greatest Paralympian after winning gold medals in the 2004 and 2016 Games, pulled off a new personal best throw of 64.35m to win the silver medal.
Sundar captured bronze with a season-best throw of 62.58.
Jhajahria, who lost his left hand after accidentally touching an electric wire while climbing a tree at the age of eight, bettered his own earlier world record (63.97m) but Sri Lankan Dinesh Priyan Herath Mudiyanselage took gold with 67.79m with a new world record.
