Star wrestler Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta, the youngest of the wrestling Phogat sisters, are now man and wife. They were married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in the presence of family members and close friends.

The wedding took place in Balali, Haryana, on Wednesday night.

The couple took an extra phera -- instead of the customary seven -- rounds around the sacred fire to support the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.

Sangeeta's elder sister Babita and cousin Vinesh had also taken eight pheras when they got married.

The Phogat sisters have earned international name and fame on the mat. The family gained near cult status after the release of the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, where the movie superstar played their father Mahavir Phogat and Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra played Sangeeta's sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat.
