Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi revived their ATP World Tour finals campaign with a straight- set victory over Jurgen Melzer and Philip Petzschner in a group A round-robin match, in London, on Wednesday.
The fourth seed Indian pair scored a 7-5, 6-3 win over the seventh seed Austrian-German combo in one hour and 12 minutes to keep their semi-final chances alive in the elite season-ending event.
Paes and Bhupathi now need to win their last league match against top seeded American pair of Mike and Bob Bryan.
The Indians had lost their first match against Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.
India's Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-haq Quershi are virtually out of the competition, having lost both their group B matches so far.
In Wednesday's match Paes and Bhupathi converted two chances in the first set and one in the second, apart from saving a breakpoint in the second set.
