Why this photograph of Aizawl FC fans is trending

In one of the biggest achievements in Indian football history, unheralded Aizawl FC on Sunday lifted the I-League crown but their fans won hearts.

Aizawl FC held Shillong Lajong 1-1 in a tense match in Shillong and  ran away with the title to script a fairytale story.

It seems the club from nowhere, is now known to everyone, everywhere.

Also, one particular picture from the stadium that has gone viral.

 

The photograph shows the fans cleaning up the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Shillong after the match.

"Aizawl football get a new fan in the form of me. I like their attitude more than their style of play. The more advanced people are not from mainland India but from the remotest part of India," a fan wrote on Facebook, with the picture from the stadium.

Another fan wrote, “Aizawl FC has won the trophy and Aizawl fans has won our heart.”

One fan quoted GK Chesterton, ““Humility is the mother of all Giants,” guys you just proved that.”
