As part of his preparations for next year's London Olympics, Asian Games gold medallist boxer Vijender Singh is considering shifting his base to Europe for training in the run-up to the mega event.

"I am thinking about shifting my base to either UK or Germany for training, some time before the Olympics. I will take a decision on it soon," he said in Mumbai on Saturday.

The Haryana-based boxer said he was undecided about participating in the National Games to be held next month in Ranchi as he felt it was time to give an opportunity to youngsters to prove themselves.

"The National Games and World Championships in September are the two important events this year. However, I am yet to decide on participating in the National Games as I feel the time has come to give the younger players a chance."

The 34th National Games will be held from February 12 to 26.

The 25-year-old Beijing Olympic bronze medallist said the emergence of boxers such as Suranjoy Singh and Jai Bhagwan had eased the pressure of expectations from senior pugilists like him and Akhil Kumar.

"It is good to see the youngsters perform. I cannot remain No1 all the time and need someone to take my place," he added.
