Liverpool have agreed to sign England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Premier League rivals Arsenal for about 40 million pounds ($52 million), British media reported on Wednesday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke last week of his desire to keep the 24-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was also a target for champions Chelsea.

But the player had his heart set on a move to Liverpool, who beat Arsenal 4-0 in the league on Sunday, and rebuffed Chelsea's advances.

He will become Liverpool's second most expensive signing after Guinea international Naby Keita, who will join the club from next season for 48 million pounds from Germany's RB Leipzig.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made more than 130 Premier League appearances for Arsenal since 2011. He can play in central midfield or on either flank and his versatility is one of the reasons Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was keen to bring him to Anfield.

Paris St Germain right back Serge Aurier has been granted a United Kingdom work permit and is set to join Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, according to media reports on Wednesday.

Sky Sports said representatives of the 24-year-old Ivory Coast defender confirmed that a work permit had been approved following delays caused by a criminal conviction in France.

According to media reports Spurs have agreed a 25 million euro ($29.81 million) fee for Aurier, a natural replacement for Kyle Walker. England right back Walker joined ManchesterCity for a reported 50 million pounds ($64.61 million) in July.

Premier League leaders Manchester United are also chasing Aurier, who last season was refused entry to the United Kingdom to play against Arsenal in the Champions League.

Aurier was found guilty in September last year of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub in May 2016 and was given a convertible two-month prison term.

He denied the charge and has appealed against the sentence, which since it is convertible usually results in community service.

West Brom sign Polish midfielder Krychowiak on loan from PSG

West Bromwich Albion have signed midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 side Paris St Germain, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Poland international arrives at the Hawthorns seeking first-team opportunities that will get him back into contention for his national side before the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"I had a lot of propositions from Spain and Italy. But this is a very ambitious club. There's a good atmosphere here," Krychowiak told the club website. (www.wba.co.uk)

He joins Kieran Gibbs, Oliver Burke, Gareth Barry, Ahmed Hegazi and Jay Rodriguez as new additions to manager Tony Pulis' squad, with Albion also signing China international striker Zhang Yuning who has started a two-year loan spell at Werder Bremen.

Krychowiak, a two-time Europa League winner with Sevilla, has 45 caps with Poland.

Juventus sign Germany defender Hoewedes on loan

Juventus have signed Germany defender Benedikt Hoewedes on a season-long loan from Schalke 04 with an option to buy him, the Italian champions said on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old has spent his entire career at Schalke, making 240 league appearances for the Bundesliga club and becoming their captain in 2011.

Hoewedes, who has played 44 times for his country, was in the German side who won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, playing every minute of the team's successful campaign.

Juventus, last season's Champions League runners-up, are bidding for their seventh Serie A title in a row.
