India’s music maestro AR Rahman and India's Test cricket captain Virat Kohli will join forces to compose the official anthem for the inaugural season of the star-studded Premier Futsal League.
This will be for the first time that the Oscar Award-winning composer is lending his musical genius to a franchise-based sport league in the country.
The duo started work on the anthem titled ‘Naam hai Futsal’ and Kohli was quick to snap the moment for posterity and share it with his fans on social media.
The 27-year-old right-handed batsman took to Twitter to share a picture of him with the 49-year-old musician and captioned it “An honor to have spent some time with the legend, Mr. @arrahman. Genius at work and epitome of humility. Thank You Sir."
Earlier, on Monday, commenting on the collaboration, Rahman said, "I'm proud to associate with Premier Futsal for the league's official anthem. It makes me happy to see such young entrepreneurs being passionate about the sporting scenario of the country and I wish them all the success in this venture. I'm especially excited to work with Virat Kohli on this, let's hope he is as good with his melody as he is with his bat!"
Kohli, who is the league ambassador of Premier Futsal, said, "I have been a fan of A R Rahman for years. It will be a personal achievement and also a privilege to share the screen with him and lend my voice to the anthem of Premier Futsal."
The anthem will be released with a video featuring Kohli. The video will be released in the week of June 20th exclusively via Premier Futsal's digital platforms. The concept and production of the anthem have been done by DDB Mudra.
A R Rahman's association with Premier Futsal adds further gloss to the league, which already boasts Portugal football legend and former World Player of the Year Luis Figo as President.
This high decibel marketing initiative from Premier Futsal, promoted by Xavier Britto of Indev Group, is aimed at creating awareness for the sport of Futsal and promoting the league ahead of its launch on July 15.
